Heat's On in Marrakech

Beautiful little girls in a ghetto-type village close to Marrakech.  I have been to this village twice, but before it was very late at night.  These people came from the Sahara Desert where it is impossible to make a living.  The "squatter" quarters they have inhabited are humble.

Storks nesting in the mosque tower

Jerry tipping the pleasure scale just barely with his semi-smile.  I think this guy wanted money from us.  We rarely, if ever, give money.

Abdullah, his mother, and a bro

I need to learn more about Morocco's Saharan people.

A pretty decent little kitchen actually within the most humble of homes

At the end of the Sheep Sacrifice Festival, they wrap leftover meat around the intestines and let it sort of jerky-ize.  We have it on good authority that it is BEYOND wonderful!!

LDS Charities bought this chair a few years ago for Mo's physical therapy clinic.  It finally made it out of the wrapper!!! He recently sent a phone video of Ahmen in it standing up and able to move it around!!

It will replace this!!  All manual as you can see--

I was drawn in by this congenial group just enjoying private time in a Marrakech park.  Jerry and I rested here too--I knitted, and he read me some amusing excerpts from Teddy Roosevelt's autobiography.

"You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend, never had a friend--You ain't NEVER had a friend like Abdul!!"

Abdul shared lamb from the sacrifice with us at his villa.

Marrakech always puts on her good party face!

And the ever present prickly pear fruit which we finally learned to eat correctly.  Just swallow it down!!  Don't chew!!  I chewed the first time and ended up with a handful of slime and unchewable seeds which I had to indiscreetly find a place for in a busy market.

Thanks for the prickly pear fruit tip! I loved the picture of the group in the park, just spending time together. And Jerry's over the moon face. So happy the wheelchair is out of its wrapper at last, and you have a friend like Abdul!
